Thirty's Spring

The spring of my twenty-ninth year brings a surge of thoughts as I stand on the cusp of my thirties. How pathetic I feel compared to friends enjoying happy married lives or those who have achieved their dreams. I am looked down upon at work for being a contract worker, and nagged at home about marriage. I try to tell myself, "This is good enough. Everyone lives like this," but overnight, my marriage plans and the prospect of becoming a permanent employee vanish into thin air. It is a spring of welcoming my thirties with empty hands.
